Island Living 009: The laptop repair dilemma

/

April 16, 2003

About a month ago my laptop burner stopped working. Fortunately the computer is still under the one-year manufacturer warranty but for some reason it has been very difficult to send it in to get it repaired.
I feel very uncomfortable about the possibility of having a stranger go through my hard drive at will. Should I delete my personal finances files or maybe my business and client’s files or perhaps I should delete my emails? What if I delete something that for some reason didn’t get backed up?
I haven’t figured out how to go about it and I keep putting off the date that I need to have the laptop picked up. Subconsciously I may be waiting until the warranty expires and the burner is no longer covered so I wont have to make a decision.
